Trust

A couple weeks ago Grace had a nightmare and started SCREAMING.   Luckily she was laying .2 mm from me and I was able to cuddle her up quick and reassure she was OK.

"OK, OK, OK" she kept saying as she took deep breathes and tried to stop crying.

She then kept saying "Roar".   I don't know... maybe something was chasing her?  She says a bear.  Who knows?!

Ever since then... every night she has had more and more trouble going to sleep.

Last night as we were getting ready for bed, she begins saying to me over and over....  "no bed, roar",  "no bed, roar".

Then I spend an hour trying to convince her that there is "no roar, you are ok".  I must have said this to her 100 different times in 100 different ways.  There was no convincing her.

Then she asks to go to "Mama's bib"  (Grace's version of "Mama's crib"... hehehe).

I tell her "no Mama's crib".

She cries and cries and cries.

I try everything.

I leave the room.

I come back to the room.

I hold and sing to her.

I rub her back.

I tell her 100 more times "no roar, you are ok".

"No roar Grace",  "No roar Grace".

Then CRACK... BANG!

Thunder.

and she screams even louder.

GREEAATTT!

I tell her no roar... and then it thunders.

That's kind of like a very loud ROAR isn't it?

Glad I have today and thousands more to continue build her trust.  Cause I think I just lost some.

By the way, after that, I gave in and let her go to sleep in Mama's bib (hehehe) as I lay next to her.

Because.... she's got me wrapped around her little fingers.  and toes.

and heart.
